NEW BUY: REN Clean Skincare Vita Mineral Daily Supplement Moisturizing Cream

~AG~

This multiactive day cream replenishes the skin with moisture and vital nutrients. Powerful antioxidants, trace elements, and vitamins further protect and energize the skin to keep it looking fit, radiant, and youthful.

-Phytosterols and Essential Fatty Acids: Boost skin lipid content and replenish the skin.
-Tannins: Tone, firm, and rest facial muscles.
-Vitamins A, F, and P: From rosehip seed oil, arctic cranberry seed oil, and rose petals; promote radiance and a natural glow .
-Global Protection Complex: A powerful blend of antioxidants and free radical scavengers to protect the skin against UV induced damage and premature aging.

I bought this moisturiser because I heard this brand works great for sensitive skin. After looking through the products descriptions and testing the different texture, I decided to go for REN Clean Skincare Vita Mineral Daily Supplement Moisturising Cream. Even though the product name described it as a cream, it has a gel texture. Among the other moisturiser I tested, this one was the one with the lightest texture. I was thinking to get the moisturiser especially designed for sensitive skin but it felt "thicker" - the Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream. So the saleslady recommended this product for me. She said this brand in general works for sensitive skin. I like the packaging for its travel convenience. It has a pump dispenser, and an additional cap to protect the pump. It retails at Sephora for US $38 for 1.70z (50ml). It only comes in one size. I will let you readers know whether this moisturiser works just well in Singapore humid environment. Stay tuned :)

KenAris Salon @ Wheelock Place

~AG~

My hairstylist was Gilbert.

He recommended that I added more layers to the back of my hair since it was all one length, and was too thick. I told him that I will allow him to cut up to 2 inches. He also noticed that my hair was getting sparse on the front area where my fringe (bangs) are. He asked whether I suffered hair loss. I told him that in recent months I noticed that there are more hair fallout when I shampooed and blow dried my hair. He informed me that this is probably because of the condition of my scalp. He said that he could smell the "oiliness" of my scalp. That comment of his, I find amusing. He said that I have an oily and rather clogged scalp. He recommended a scalp treatment to detoxifying the scalp. He also mentioned that tying my hair in a ponytail that is too tight can also attribute to the hair loss.

He mentioned that my hair was rather "heavy" because it was all one length. So he gave some layers but still kept the length. He layered the front mostly, and only trimmed the back. I allowed him to cut off up to 2 inches. My hair feels much lighter and easier to manage now. The only thing is that I find the bangs too short. But it will grow out.

I also asked for a moisturising hair treatment because of my split ends. The products they used for the treatment were from Redken. The hair treatment makes my hair smoother and softer. I saw the effect on my hair for up to 3 weeks, which is better than that of my previous hair treatment at Shunji Matsuo.

The scalp treatment was $98. The hair treatment was $138. The haircut was $109. This is the most expensive haircut I have ever had. But since Gilbert is a Director level, I am paying for his experience.

Overall, I said the experience there was a good one. The staff there took their time to do the hair treatment. The hair treatment and haircut took 2.5 hours. Gilbert knew what I wanted and the haircut he gave me was satisfactory. I will definitely come back there.

Ole Henriksen Truth is in the Eyes Vitamin C Peel Concentrate

~AG~

A peel concentrate for the under eye area that offers a natural, gentle antidote to dark circles and fine lines.

Created by Ole Henriksen (skin guru to the stars) to address the specific needs of the eye region—specifically signs of fatigue and age—this exfoliating formula will revolutionize skincare for the under eye region. Because the tissue around the eye is so fragile, it is often recommended NOT to exfoliate that area. This groundbreaking blend represents a new realm of possibility for more youthful skin around the eyes.

-Pepha Tight (Algae Extract): Helps firm skin and boost collagen production.
-Regu-Age (Rice Bran & Soybean Protein): Strengthens under-eye tissue and improves circulation to reduce dark circles and puffiness.
-Lactic & Glycolic Acid (AHA's): Gently exfoliate skin to reduce and prevent wrinkles.
-Vitamin C: Naturally lightens, brightens and tightens skin.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua/ Eau), Glycolic Acid, Glycerin, Potassium, Hydroxide, Lactic Acid, Saccharide Isomerate , Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Rice Bran Protein, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Protein, Oxido Reductases, Algae Extract, Pullulan, Allantoin, Calcium Ascorbate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Sorbitol, Carrageenan, Xanthan Gum, Polysorbate 20, Oleth-20, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hexylene Glycol, Citric Acid.

The sales lady at Sephora recommended me this product that she claims can get rid of milia. I have been having persistent milia under my eyelids. She said it is due to the clogged pores & oil gland that is congested. She said this product works for her because it somehow "exfoliate" the area. This product is designed specifically for the under eye area.  It retails for US$42. The Ole Henriksen Vitamin C Line is rather well-known in the beauty market. So I was excited to try this product. She said it takes about a month to see the result. I am been using it nightly for two days now. I don't use it in the day time because I heard Vitamin C makes your skin more susceptible to the sun rays. The direction also mentions to use an SPF for the eye area on top of the peel concentrate for daytime use. Since I don't have a SPF eye cream, I decided to dedicate it solely for nighttime use.

I will come back in a month to report on the results, and of any adverse reactions. Wish me luck!

Please stay tuned :)

banila co. it RADIANT CC Cushion SPF 35 PA ++

~AG~

The only reason I know this brand is because of their spokesperson, Jessica from SNSD (Girls’Generation). I have seen her pictorials for the advertisements, and also have seen a Youtube video of her demonstrating on how to use their products.

I am a big fan of SNSD makeup looks, especially Jessica’s. Her makeup look is usually more of a natural one with radiant skin and soft colors to compliment her skin tone.

Unfortunately, banila co. do not have a store in Singapore. So when I was in Korea last month, I decided to check out their store and scouter their products.

Beforehand, I did research about banila co. products. Their most popular products were their makeup remover that comes in a tub and was a balm formula, their makeup primer and also their CC Creams.

This is one of banila co. best sellers, their CC Cushion.  In addition to the it RADIANT CC Cream, I bought this CC Cushion because from what the saleslady explained to me it has more coverage. While the CC Cream has more of a primer function, the CC Cushion works as a foundation. I’ve always heard of CC Cushion and am quite intrigued by how it works. Basically, it looks like a powder compact. However, the packaging is thicker compared to other compact powders. CC Cushion in its simplest form is a CC Cream in a compact packaging. However, the cushion form of the compact supposedly allows the CC Cream to be applied more evenly. The CC Cushion has been in the Korean market for a while now but it has only recently been promoted overseas.

I cannot recall exactly how much it costs. But I remembered it being pricier than my other Korean beauty products purchase. It costs around USD$25-30. I was taken aback when the saleslady informed me about the price but I figured since it uses the newest technology, it could demand a higher price.

I have yet to try it out. Will let you all know when I do get to try it. I am trying to minimize the use of skin makeup for now because I am in the midst of changing my skin care regimen, and do not want more products to throw it off balance. But I will try it sooner or later. Till then, stay tuned!
