REVIEW: Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips

~MG~

I purchased the Vaseline Lip Therapy - Rosy Lips, in the U.S. for US$1.79 (SG$2.44). It comes in 3 different types: Original (for soft, smooth lips), Cocoa Butter (for soft, glowing lips) and the Rosy Lips (for soft, pink lips). Haven’t seen this around Singapore yet but I saw it while in Korea. Been using Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips for 3 months and I'm not even halfway through! Thus, it is a very value for money lip product! Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips is also extra moisturizing with a slight hint of rose scent. The compactness of the packaging makes it very light to carry around. Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips is very cute because it is so tiny! It smaller than the size of a golf ball.

The only disappointment however was that unlike the pinkness of the product, it did not show up on my lip at all! I was expecting my lip to have a hint of pink but sadly no. So if you are thinking to get this lip balm for a 2 in 1 purpose – to moisturize and to add colour, the success rate is not a guaranteed 100%. Maybe the colour of my lip is too dark? Maybe the pinkness will show up on people with lighter lip colour? Well, hopefully! Oh, some of you may not like this lip balm since it is in a tub, which means you would need to dip your finger to get the product. I used to be one of those people mentioned. But now I am fine with dipping my fingers into it as long as my finger is clean, and the product is that good for me to forgo the cringing idea of dipping my finger into it every single time!

REVIEW: Benefit Lip Lovin' Tinted Balms

~AG~
These tinted balms hydrate the lips with mango shea butter. It glides on sheer, but is buildable for more color. It is like a lip tint and lip balm all-in-one. It was surprisingly more hydrating than VDL Festival Lip Stick Glow Balm and Dior Addict Lip Glow. These tinted lip balms do wear off after eating or drinking. The staying power is decent for a tinted lip balm, about 2-3 hours.
This trio of mini-version is a great way to try all three colors - benebalm, cha cha balm and posiebalm. This mini version weighs 1.4 grams each, making it very handy for traveling. Each travel-sized version lasts me for about 2 months.

cha cha balm, posie balm and benebalm
benebalm
benebalm has a red tone. The pigment shows up surprisingly well on my skin. It creates a subtle red lips. benebalm also has a nice rose scent. Out of the three, benebalm is the most vibrant. A great lip balm/liptint to brighten the face.

cha cha balm
The cha cha balm has a sheer peach tone, and was not as pigmented as I had expected. The peach tone was rather muted. I had really high hopes for cha cha balm because I thought it would work for my warm medium skin tone, but it was a disappointment. :(

posie balm
The posie balm has a poppy pink tone. This cool tone will work better for those that have a fairer skin tone. For my warm medium skin tone, posie balm washed out my complexion. *thumbs down*

Top to Bottom: cha cha balm, posie balm and benebalm
The usual price is S$30 for the trio of mini-size, or $10 for each mini-sized tinted balm. That is pricey for a mini-sized tinted lip balm, don't you think? However, with UOB Credit Card 15% discount, the trio costs S$25.50. After the discount, each mini tinted lip balm cost S$8.50. Still a hefty pricetag for 1.4 grams of lip balm. Out of the trio, the one I like most is benebalm because of the vibrant color. Even though I do like Benefit benebalm, I would reconsider repurchasing it because of the not-so-great value for money. But if you have cash to spare, you might want to check these moisturising tinted lip balm.

NEW BUY: Benefit Lip Lovin' Tinted Balms Sephora 1-Day Sale

~AG~

Sephora Singapore is having a 1-day sale for UOB Cardholders. 15% off your purchase for today only! Hurry to your nearest Sephora store!

Bought this Benefit Lip Balms set during the sale. It comes with a trio of Benefit Cosmetics tinted lip balms: cha cha balm, posie balm and bene balm. The actual retail price is S$30, but with the discount, it came down to S$25.50. Not too bad for 3 travel-sized versions of the Benefit tinted balms. The tinted balms hydrate the lips with mango shea butter. It glides on sheer, but is buildable for more color.

I cannot wait to try it out! The benebalm has a rose tone. The cha cha balm has a sheer peach tone. The posie balm has a poppy pink tone. So, I can switch up my lip balms depending on my mood.

REVIEW: Tony Moly Ferment Snail Lip Treatment Stick SPF 13

Bought in Korea, I cannot remember the price

Comes in a handy packaging that fits easily into your bag

A colorless lip treatment stick

~MG~
Q: What did you buy it?
A: I have always wanted to try a product that has snail essence, because I have never tried it before. The word "lip ferment" attracted me to the product, because I figured it would have a stronger moisturising formula. Another reason why I chose this lip treatment is because it has sun protection. I LOVE trying out lip balms!

Q: How long did you use it?
A: For about two months, not everyday.

Q: What can you say about Tony Moly Snail Lip Treatment?
A:  It is the WORST lip balm that I have ever tried! But, this lip treatment does have its plus such as being very moisturising. The negative thing about this lip treatment was the scent of the SPF was very overwhelming. It was too much for my liking. Fresh Lip Treatment also has SPF but it is not overpowering. When I apply Tony Moly Snail Lip Treatment, I can "taste" the SPF-ness. I stopped using this product because of these two reasons.

Q: Would you recommend this to any of your friends?
A: I would not recommend this Tony Moly Ferment Snail Lip Treatment. It is not worth it. If even this lip treatment is priced at only $2, I would tell my friends not to buy it.
My #1 lip balm with SPF is Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick SPF 15, though some people are not a fan of it because of it not sweet-smelling scent. If you want a lip balm with SPF, I would recommend Fresh Lip Treatment SPF 15 or Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick SPF 15.

REVIEW: Smith's Strawberry Lip Balm

 ~MG~

Travel-friendly packaging of the Smith's Strawberry Lip Balm

Ingredients list

The angled-squeeze tube packaging
WHAT?
Smith’s Strawberry Lip Balm

WHERE?
I got this while I was in Taiwan, forgot how much it cost but it was very affordable, around US$5-10.

WHY?
I was so excited when I saw this products because I have been reading the good reviews of the Rosebud lip balms for years! Decided not to get the original because I thought the strawberry version might give a bit of pink colour since the product does look a little pink (so disappointed that it didn’t!).

HOW?
Been using it for about 6 months and there is still a lot of product left, at least 40%! I didn’t like this product at first because of the strong strawberry scent. I am not really a fan of sweet fruity scent. But after using it more often, the scent does not bother me as much. One thing I still don’t like about this product though is how thick it is which sometimes results me in having thick gooey residue on my upper front teeth! To avoid it, I always have to remember to apply only a THIN layer. The moisturizing power is fair enough. Once applied, it can stay on for 3-4 hours. With that being said, I wouldn’t repurchase this product again because the moisturizing power is not strong enough to beat the embarrassment that I felt from having the residue on my teeth (NOT COOL AT ALL!).

REVIEW: Innisfree Canola Honey Lip Balm Smooth Care

innisfree canola honey lip balm - smooth care

The lip balm is surprisingly a green color

~AG~
Bought this lip balm during my trip to Korea. I am a big fan of Innisfree's products and decided to try their lip balm. This Canola Honey Lip Balm cost me KRW 6,000 (S$7). It is a much more affordable option compared to Fresh Lip Treatment or Dior Lip Glow.

Hydrating your lips is an important beauty habit to cultivate. Flaky lips are a big no-no. It makes you look unkempt. Plus, lipsticks goes on better with well moisturized lips. In Singapore's humid climate, you might not find the need to apply lip balm frequently. Unlike drier climate such as in the States or Europe.  With that being said, I still find my lips get dry if I do not apply lip balm, as I spend my days in an air-conditioned office. At my best, I apply lip balm twice a day. At my worst, I forget to apply them at all. On the other hand, my sister, MG, religiously apply lip balm. She always remind me to apply lip balm whenever we are travelling together. She is like the lip balm police. Haha!

According to innisfree website, Canola honey lip balm, is "a silky lip balm that helps create a moisture layer. It contains Jeju canola honey extract and canola seed oil. Deep moisture from the honey helps keep your lips silky and fresh all day, soothing any chapped areas. Shea butter and murumuru butter instantly provides moisture to dry lips."
To combat my forgetfulness, I leave a lip balm on my work desk for easy access. It gives me no excuse to forget to hydrate my lips. Innisfree Canola Honey Lip Balm - Smooth Care is not as hydrating as Fresh Lip Treatment or Rosebud Salve. The texture of the lip balm is rather hard, and does not go on easily. My lips does not feel well moisturized after application. The packaging of this lip balm is not sturdy; I feel that it will break to pieces if I were to drop it. Overall, I will not repurchase this lip balm.

REVIEW: VDL Festival Lip Stick Glow Balm

~AG~

Purchased this VDL lip balm in Korea for KRW 18,000 (S$22). Saw this VDL & Kakao collaboration in-store. The packaging is so adoooraaableeee! This VDL Festival Lipstick Glow Balm is adorned with Apeach emoticons. Since I am a fan of Kakao, I cannot resist to grab this lip balm. This lip balm claim to moisturize and nourish the lips to give a smooth, non-flaky surface.
The second from the left top. The signature yellow Kakao packaging

Apeach icon embossed on the lip balm

So what can I say about this lip balm?
It does not have much color on my lips. It leaves a slight pink sheen on the lips. This lip balm reminds me of Dior Lip Glow. The only difference is that Dior Lip Glow is more hydrating and long-lasting. After about an hour, I do not feel this lip balm on my lips anymore. VDL Glow Balm is not as moisturizing as other lip balms such as Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment or Rosebud Salve. When I am on the plane or other places with drier climate, this lip balm is not sufficient to keep my lips moisturized.

I would not recommend this VDL Glow Balm as a lip balm to buy. The bright yellow packaging and Apeach emoticons embossed on the lip balm are the only good things about this lip balm.

Korean Beauty Products Haul - Lip Products

~AG~

Since I bought tons of beauty products during my trip to Korea, I will separating my haul into different posts. This post focuses on lip products - lip balm, lip tint, lip crayon, and lip stick.

VDL Expert Lip Color Cube Ex (KRW 24,000 = S$30)
The triangle-shaped lipstick. Great texture and very pigmented. The packaging allows for precise application of lipstick.

VDL Festival Lipstick Glow Balm (KRW 18,000 = S$22)
This product is a collaboration with Kakao. The packaging is in Kakao's signature yellow color. The lip balm is embossed with Kakao character, Apeach. How cuuuuuteee is it? The lip balm itself reminds me of Dior Glow, because of the light pink shade.

Clio Gelpresso Melting Lipstick (KRW 18,000 = S$22)
A creamy lipstick from Clio. The one that I chose was Somewhat (1) which is a pink-nude shade. A great everyday pink lipstick. It has a rather flat tip, which reminds me of my Cle de Peau Beaute concealer's shape.

Banila Co. Floral Seoul Lip Crayon (KRW 14,000 = S$17)
The cheerful packaging of this lip crayon is what initially attracted me to this product. The brightly-colored flower print makes it a great product for collection. It is so pretty! This product has a rounded tip which is different than typically lip crayon. The one I chose is Boston Pink (ND02) which is dusty rose shade. Another great shade for everyday. It is very natural and not too much for the office.

Innisfree Canola Honey Lip Balm - Deep Moisture (KRW 6,000 = S$8)
* not individually pictured*
One of Innisfree's bestsellers. The very hydrating lip balm with canola seed oil & canola honey extract. It also contain mango seed butter that moisturises lips.

Innisfree Canola Honey Lip Balm - Smooth Care(KRW 6,000 = S$8)
*not pictured pictured*
Another of Innisfree's bestsellers. In addition to canola seed oil and canola honey extract, it also contains shea butter & murumuru butter to protect the lips.

Peripera Rouge Pang (KRW 10,000 = S$14)
This product is a pigmented lipstick that have texture similar to lip balm, and strong pigmentation of a lip tint. It is very smooth and glides on very easily. I was attracted to the beautiful red shade. The shade pictured is Party Party (RD 03); the name is very appropriate. A red lips is a confidence booster on days when you need it, like when you have a big meeting or on special occasions.

REVIEW: Kiehl's Lip Balm #1 - Pear

~AG~

This lip balm is one of Kiehl's best-selling products. At the Little Three store in Taiwan, this lip balm was retailing for US$9.5. This lip balm claims to protect and help relieve chapped/cracked lips. With Vitamin A and E, it helps keep lips healthy. Soothing ingredients such as Squalane, Lanolin and Sweet Almond Oil coat the lips and prevent further drying.

The Pear scent of this lip balm is very distinct. The scent is fruity and sweet, and does not seemed synthetic. The lip balm comes in a squeeze plastic packaging with a twist on and off cap. However, the tip of the product is not angled for easy application. You can use the tip to apply it directly on the lips, but I find that this application to be uneven. You are supposed to squeeze the balm and use your fingers to apply it. However, using your fingers to touch the tip of the product can get unhygienic.

This lip balm has a thick Vaseline-like consistency. It also has a glossy finish. For everyday use, I prefer to use lip balm that does not have a sticky feeling. This lip balm is too glossy/shiny for my liking. It does have sun protection with SPF of 4. But that SPF is not sufficient if you are out all day in the sun. Since it is so glossy/shiny, it does not lasts long. After an hour or so, I would have to re-apply the lip balm. Not a good lip balm to carry around when travelling, because of the frequent need to re-apply.

NEW BUY: Benefit lollibalm

~MG~

I saw this product at Changi Airport Shilla Duty Free and they were selling it for S$25.60. At first, I was not planning to buy this lip balm. But after seeing the not-so-expensive price, it convinced me to buy this product.

This is the lip balm version of lollitint, which is an orchid tint by Benefit Cosmetics. I have seen Song Ji Hyo of Running Man used the tinted version on her drama, Emergency Couple. The colour looks bright and "happy". I decided to buy the lip balm version because it will be more moisturizing then the tinted version. When I tested the lip balm on the back of my hand, the colour seems pigmented enough. I am not sure about the hydrating properties of the lip balm.

I still have to go through a few more lip balms in my beauty stock, before I get to this product. Please check back here again for my review on Benefit Lollibalm.

REVIEW: Dior Addict Lip Glow

~AG~

I've been wanting to try this self-adjustable lip balm by Dior since the first time I saw it at Sephora. The idea of how it works is so interesting. This is a sheer lip balm that reacts with your lips' chemistry to create a customized pink shade.

What can I say about this product? This lip balm leaves a nice sheen on the lips. The vanilla scent of the lip balm is nice and not too overwhelming. It leaves my lips moisturized without it feeling sticky. It does not have the best staying power. It can stay up to 2 hours with food or drinks.

Overall, I really like this lip balm because it does not have any weird after-taste or feeling that some lip balms have. Plus, the baby pink shade that appears on my lips is very flattering. It was not too bright, and was just the right pop of color.

It is very expensive for a lip balm. It retails for USD $31 at Sephora. The hefty price tag makes me think twice about re-purchasing this product. Even though I really like the pink shade that the lip balm creates and its moisturizing properties, I will not re-purchase this product for the time being. It is a great lip balm to try out but it is too expensive to be a constant makeup product in my books.

Kiehl's Lip Balm #1 - Pear

A lip balm that protects and helps relieve chapped or cracked lips.
  • Helps protect lips from the drying effects of wind and cold weather
  • Formulated with soothing emollients Squalane, Lanolin and Sweet Almond Oil, as well as Vitamins A and E

~AG~
I saw this Kiehl's Lip Balm #1 Pear lip balm while at a beauty store called Little Three in Taiwan. I've heard good reviews about Kiehl's Lip Balm before. The Kiehl's counter in Singapore, as far as I know it, do not carry the Kiehl's Scented Lip Balm. At the Little Three store, they had a selection of the Pear or Mango Fragrance. I decided to go for the Pear because the Mango one might be too "sweet".

According to Kiehl's USA website, the Scented Lip Balm retails for US$9. At the Little Three store, it was retailing for USD$9.50. So it is comparable to the price in the US.

I can't wait to try it out after I am done with my current lip balm, Fresh Sugar Rose.

Dior Addict Lip Glow

A sheer balm that enhances your natural lip color while moisturizing and protecting the skin. Awaken and enhance the natural beauty of your lips with this unique balm that promises the perfect pout. Formulated with color reviver technology, this silky lipstick reacts with the chemistry of your lips to create a special shade that will last all day. The addition of SPF 10 will keep you protected, while hydrating mango butter and loofah extract nourish for beautiful, luscious lips.

~AG~
I've been wanting to try this Dior Addict Lip Glow for years. This lip product reacts to each person's chemistry and create a special shade. The concept amazes me.

The actual lip product is a baby pink shade. It is sheer and does not have much color when you first apply it. But then it reacts to your lip's chemistry to create your own color. I will upload a picture of my special shade when I start using it :)

The packaging is just too cute. A pink translucent plastic cover with Dior's signature rounded bottom. Retails for USD $31. I bought it during Sephora Family & Friends Sale but you can find it at any Dior counters at Nordstrom, Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus.
