REVIEW: Château Labiotte Wine Lipstick Melting and Fitting

Labiotte Wine Lipstick Fitting in Sauternes Red (RD04)
Labiotte Wine Lipstick Melting in Noir Pink (PK 01)
~AG~

Happened to walk pass a Labiotte store when we were in Myeongdong, Seoul. I was unfamiliar with this brand but MG told me that this brand is popular for the Wine Lipstick and Lip Tint. So, we entered the shop to find out more about this brand. There are two types of Labiotte Wine Lipstick: Fitting and Melting. The Labiotte Wine Lipstick Fitting has a matte finish while the Melting leaves a sheen. I bought the Labiotte Wine Lipstick Fitting in Sauternes Red (RD04) and the Labiotte Wine Lip Stick Melting in Noir Pink (PK01). Bought products are reasonably priced lip product at KRW 16,000 (S$20).

The packaging resembles a wine bottle. What a cute packaging! On the top part of the packaging is a sponge tip applicator to define the applied lip colors. The cap of the sponge tip applicator tends to come off easily, which results in the sponge tip applicator being exposed. As a result, I had to tape the cap of the sponge tip applicator to ensure the cap does not fall off.

Both Wine Lipsticks use the Smart Melting System to make the lips most beautiful at 28 degrees Celsius. Both the Fitting and Melting Lipsticks contains Chateau Margaux Wine Extract, which keeps the lips healthy. When I tried the Labiotte Wine Lipstick Melting, the texture was smooth and nice. The lipstick gently wraps the lips as wine ingredients reacts to the skin optimal temperature. The water grip emollient moisture coating film and stay-fitting polymers provides long-lasting color and moisture. The pigmentation of the lipstick was intense, and the lip color stays on well. The Labiotte Wine Lipstick Fitting has a creamy powder texture that gives off a velvet finish. Though it contains Wine Extract that is supposed to keep lips moisturized, Labiotte Wine Lipstick Fitting tends to accentuate dry lips. To prevent flaky lips, you would need to apply lip balm beforehand. For the Labiotte Wine Lipstick Melting, the texture did not accentuate my dry lips.

Overall, Labiotte Wine Lipstick is a good product that is highly pigmented and has a great texture. For those with drier lips, I would recommend the Labiotte Wine Lipstick Melting instead of Labiotte Wine Lipstick Fitting. For those that prefer a matte finish, Labiotte Wine Lipstick Fitting is recommended but remember to apply lip balm before applying the lipstick. Apart from the faulty packaging of the sponge tip applicator, this is a good lip product to carry on. It is long-lasting and stays on well, great for everyday wear.

REVIEW: Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream

Pictures courtesy of Wishtrend
~MG~
Last April, I bought Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream in Seoul at ÅLAND. Cannot remember how much I bought it for but it retails for US$24.50 (S$34) on Wishtrend.  Been wanting to try out this product for a long time after reading the positive reviews from youtube and wishtrend.
This Calming Cream has been part of my skincare regimen for more than 6 months
. How do I use it? I only apply it on nights when I have extracted my blackhead/whitehead or popped my pimples. This cream comes in a surprising blue color. Unlike traditional moisturizing cream, you do not apply the Klairs Calming Cream all over the face. You only apply a small amount to targeted areas.

Q1. Why is the cream blue?
Guaiazulene, which is the key ingredient of the Blue Cream, is a plant-based component extracted
from camomile oil. It has a natural violet color, which gradually turns the cream into a gentle blue color after the blending process.

This cream designed to calm and soothe sensitive, or irritated skin.  When I use it the night before, my skin redness is reduced next day. Though it does not completely diminish the redness, it does significantly help to calm my skin irritations. When you rinse your face with water the next morning, you can still feel a thin protective layer of the product on your skin, almost like shielding your damaged skin from external environment. Sometimes if the affected area is still red in the morning, I will use Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream as my day moisturizer. I will allow the Calming Cream to absorb into the skin first before putting on CC Cream.

When I am lazy, I use Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream as a moisturizer at night. Since it is not as moisturizing, I like to apply a very generous amount all over my face. However, this result in my skin being a little sticky due to the protective layer of the cream. Therefore, this product is not recommend to be used all over the face in the daytime. Because of the protective layer that it creates on the skin, your skin will look somewhat shiny.
Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream contains 30 ml of product and has lasted me for 9 months. Since this product is only used when my skin is irritated or redness, I tend to use it only 3 to 4 times a month. I would repurchase this product as it does help to calm my skin redness and irritation. It is an affordable treatment cream that will be useful for those with skin sensitivity, breakouts and redness.

NEW BUY: Bobbi Brown Illuminating Cheek Palette in Peach

Bobbi Brown Illuminating Cheek Palette

~AG~
Mid last year, I had bought this Bobbi Brown Illuminating Cheek Palette in Peach from Bobbi Brown's official website and had my friend brought it back for me. Bobbi Brown is one of the first high-end makeup brands that I discovered during my college days. Their corrector, concealer, foundations and their shimmer brick compact are well-made products. Decided to buy this cheek palette because it contains a blush, bronzer and highlighter. A cheek palette would be extra handy when traveling. Cheek Palette in Peach contains Havana - a light pink brown,  Pink Coral - a bright nectar and  Peach - a golden highlight. These shades are ideal for those with light to medium skin tones. It retailed for US$50 (S$68) which is quite pricey but it is 3 products in one packaging.
From Left to Right: Havana (Bronzer), Pink Nectar (Blush) and Peach (Highlighter)

This Bobbi Brown Cheek Palette was available in Peach and Guava. Though their website now has only the Illuminating Cheek Palette in Guava. It is selling at a discounted price of US$21. The Guava palette is for medium to rich skin tones.

I will try this Cheek Palette soon and let you know whether Bobbi Brown blush, bronzer and highlighter are worthy addition to my makeup stash.
