NEW BUY: Dear, Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Charcoal Soap

~AG~

While in South Korea recently, MG wanted to stop by ALAND stores to buy some COSRX and Klairs skincare products. We spent some time at ALAND Myeongdong store to find some current popular products in the Korean beauty world.
Dear, Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Charcoal Soap retails for KRW 10,500 (SGD $13.50). This is a heavy price tag for a bar soap that weighs 100 grams. Klairs Charcoal Soap claims to purify pores without over-drying skin. Charcoal eliminates dead skin cells and organic Moroccan Ghassoul (mineral clay) eliminates sebum. Black sugar exfoliates to give a brighter and clearer skin. It also contains hydrating ingredients such as coconut oil, jojoba oil, cocoa seed butter and grapeseed oil. Essential oils such as lavender and eucalyptus are also found in Klairs Charcoal Soap. This natural soap does not contain fragrances, preservatives, artificial foaming agents and emulsifiers.

My plan is to use Dear, Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Charcoal Soap for my back area. Since I am constantly plagued by back acne, using a targeted cleanser for that area will be a good idea. My hope is for Klairs Charcoal Soap to help prevent back acne from appearing. *fingers crossed*

NEW BUY: Neutrogena Rainbath Refreshing Shower & Bath Gel

Its unique fragrance of spices, fruits and herbs provides a clean, fresh burst that awakens your senses and refreshes your whole body. A rich conditioning lather leaves skin in a better condition.

~AG~
One of my good friends recommended this Neutrogena Rainbath Refreshing Shower & Bath Gel. She mentioned that you will feel fresh after shower but since it is less foamy, your skin will not feel dry. It costs S$11.90 for 473 ml of shower/bath gel. My friend also mentioned that one of her friends that has backacne saw her condition improved after use of this shower gel. This was what intrigued me to this Neutrogena Body Wash. Even though its ingredients list does not have salicylic acid or other acne-fighting ingredients, I decided to give it a try anyway.

Stay tuned for my review of Neutrogena Rainbath Refreshing Shower & Bath Gel!

NEW BUY: Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil Face, Body & Hair

~MG~

Bought this multi-purpose dry oil from Nuxe at Watsons. They were having a 20% off promotion + 5% for members. The original price was S$45 but I only paid S$34.20 for it. This dry oil can be used for the face, body and hair. A few years back, I received a sample of this product in my Birchbox but did not try using it. Nuxe's dry oil is a popular product. I have seen it numerous times in beauty stores. This highly-rated product has been given good reviews online by beauty bloggers. The reason why I purchased this product is because I wanted to try using body oil on my legs instead of body lotions. As my legs tend to be quite dry, I find that lotions are not moisturizing enough. I was finally convinced by the relaxing floral scent of the dry oil. It reminded me of spas and massage oils. I will do a review of Nuxe Huile Prodigieuese Dry Oil once I use it long enough.

Huile Prodigieuse is France's leading beauty oil.
This multi-usage dry oil, made using six Precious Plant Oils (Macadamia, Hazelnut, Borage,
Sweet Almond, Camellia and St. John's Wort), nourishes, repairs and softens skin and hair.
It has a unique dry oil texture and a captivating fragrance.

REVIEW: Nature’s Cure Body Treatment Spray Acne

Nature’s Cure is an excellent body and back acne treatment for breakouts caused by external conditions, such as sweating and friction from tight-fitting athletic gear and clothing. Plugged pores allow bacteria growth under the skin’s surface, causing inflammation that results in back acne, or acne on the chest, shoulders, arms or other parts of the body. Salicylic acid prevents body acne formation, including tough back acne, by exfoliating dead skin cells and clearing pores. It claims to:

  • Penetrates pores
  • Sprays from any angle, even upside down
  • Fights acne from sports and sweat
  • Maximum strength 2% salicylic acid formulation
~AG~
I’ve been using this body acne treatment spray for over 3 months, twice a day, after shower. I can say that this product does not prevent back acne. My back acne is about the same as before I started using this product. I had high hopes for this product because it has one of the higher ratings for acne treatment spray.
The treatment spray is convenient in that it can be sprayed from any angle, so it can target hard-to-reach places. However, I find the 2% salicylic acid formulation is not strong enough for my severe back acne. I think I need to use another acne active ingredient. Salicylic acid is not cutting it for my back acne. I need something that will deeply penetrate the pores and prevent breakouts. Any suggestions readers?

REVIEW: First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream

The FAB Antioxidant Booster defends skin from free radical damage and the cream deeply hydrates with exceptional penetration, providing immediate relief and visible improvement for distressed face

~MG~

I bought the 'FAB Ultra Repair Cream', hoping that it will be a good moisturizer for the fall and winter seasons since it claims to be a thick and rich cream.
FAB claims that this cream is "for anyone with severely dry, scaly skin due to the harsh winter weather, aggressive cosmetic treatments or any of the following conditions: psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, irritant eczema, allergic eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, keratosis pilaris."
After using this cream for 3 weeks, all I can say is that this product is not bad but also not great or even good, just average. I use the cream as my night moisturizer because of its supposedly hydrating properties. However, when I wake up in the morning, I feel that my face is not as moisturized. I had expected my face to be very moisturized the next morning but no, my face is not in my ideal moisturized level. I have a combination oily skin type and this cream did not even moisturize my face that well so I am not so sure about its claim. In my opinion, this moisturizer will be good for oily skin's day moisturizer and maybe as night moisturizer too if your skin is really good since it is really lightweight and fairly hydrating.

A quick preview of its ingredients...
  • Colloidal Oatmeal as the skin protectant. It is the only FDA-approved, over-the-counter ingredient for eczema.
  • Allantoin and Eucalyptus Oil as the skin healer and soother.
  • FAB Antioxidant Booster, who combat free radicals.
  • Ceramides, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dimethicone, Glycerin, Squalane and Shea Butter as the moisturizer and barrier of protection for the skin

What I like about this cream are...
  • Its lightweight texture. The cream will really absorb well into your skin.
  • It has a very slight minty scent which I assume to be from the Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract because the cream is formulated without synthetic fragrances.
  • It is also formulated without Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Dynes, Phthalates, GMOs and Triclosan which makes it safe for sensitive face.
  • I like how customers buying this cream can have the option of buying it either in a tube or a tub packaging. I bought the tube packaging which is actually its mini version, since it is much more hygienic.
  • It is multipurpose, you can use it as a face cream, hand cream and all over the dry areas of your body.
  • It does not cause my face to break out.

Unfortunately, I won't buy this product again because I find it to be not that moisturizing even though my skintype is oily combination.
