REVIEW: Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo

Use once a week to make your favourite shampoo work better
Each bottle comes with 175 ml of shampoo

~AG~
Bought this online from drugstore.com when they were having an offer. It was on sale for US $5.94 (S$8). This Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo claims to remove up to 90% of residues from shampoos, conditioners and other hair care products. The direction recommends to use it once a week. It supposedly cleans thoroughly and also rinses easily.
Just a right amount of shampoo is dispensed with this small tip
Comes with a press-down-to-open cap

The reason why I bought this shampoo is because sometimes even after washing my hair with Klorane shampoo, I can still feel that my hair is not clean. Even after leaving my shampoo on for one or two minutes, some residue or impurities can still be felt on my hair strands. In addition, my hair is oily-prone and so I have to wash it everyday.

Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo works as a clarifying shampoos. It has a light scent, which pleasantly reminds me of Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo. This colorless shampoo foams up well and throughly removes any product built-up. I do not use much sticky hair styling products except for a leave-in treatment. But after using this Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo, my hair feels cleaner and does not feel as weighed down. I can skip a day of hair washing after using this Neutrogena Anti-Residue, as it somehow helps control my hair greasiness. Yay! Super satisfied with this shampoo :)

This Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo also works well for guys that use long-lasting or molding hair wax, gel or hair spray on a daily basis. My boyfriend who uses a combination of hair wax and hair spray from Monday to Friday finds that his normal shampoo cannot totally wash off his long-lasting hair wax. He often still feels traces of his wax on his hair strands even after washing his hair twice. So I let him try this Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo and he was amazed by it. His super long-lasting hair wax was completely washed away by this Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo. Plus, even after using this shampoo, his hair did not feel dry. Best of all, this shampoo does not smell 'girly' at all, so guys would not be turned off to use it.

I will recommend this Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo to have in your shower. It works well to remove any stubborn product built-up from hair oils, leave-in conditioner, wax, spray, gel. This Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo makes your hair feels fresh. But make sure you only use it once a week to avoid over-clarifying your hair.

REVIEW: Klorane Shampoo with Peony for Itchy & Irritated Scalp

~AG~

I can only say good things about Klorane Shampoo with Peony. It has a nice light flowery scent. I was expecting it to have an herbal undertone, but it did not have any. This shampoo is targeted with those with irritated or itchy scalp. I am one of those people with oily scalp and dry ends. My hair care habit is to wash my hair every morning. I CANNOT not wash my hair everyday. However, with my dry ends and frizzy hair, it is recommended to chose a gentle shampoo for daily cleansing.
Klorane Shampoo with Peony does contain Sodium Laureth Sulfate, a commonly used foaming agent. However since Klorane Shampoo with Peony does not foam up as much as other shampoos, I think the concentration of Sodium Laureth Sulfate is relatively lower. Shampoos with strong foaming action contains high concentration of Sodium Laureth Sulfate which can strip your hair of its natural essential oils.
Klorane Shampoo with Peony

Been using Klorane Shampoo with Peony for over a month, so far, I am liking it! It is not drying at all. Some days, I even skip my conditioner after using this shampoo. It makes my hair feeling soft.
The plastic packaging is quite  bulky but it is durable, I dropped it from a height of one meter, and the bottle was still perfectly intact. Each bottle comes with 400 ml of shampoo, which can lasts me for at least 5 months. Bought it for only $18.90 when Watsons Singapore was having a promotion. Such a value-for-money buy!

I would definitely repurchase this Klorane Shampoo with Peony; would also love to try the other shampoos from the Klorane brand. Will highly recommend this shampoo to those with oily/itchy or sensitive scalp, it cleanses well without over drying the hair.

NEW BUY: Klorane Shampoo with Peony for Irritated and Itchy Scalp

~AG~

Bought this Klorane Shampoo - Peony at Guardian for S$18.90, it comes with 400 ml of product, which is quite worth it. This amount should last me for at least 5 months. Been wanting to try Klorane products. Guardian has a wide selection of Klorane shampoos to chose from, but I decided to try this Shampoo with Peony. This shampoo is for those with irritated and itchy scalp. Recently, I noticed that my scalp is more itchy than usual. I hope this shampoo will help soothe my irritate scalp. *cross my fingers*

For irritated scalp, soothing and anti-irritating. We have selected Paeonia lactiflora L. species for its high paeoniflorin content, a molecule with scientifically proven anti-irritant, soothing and anti-radical properties, which instantly soothe sensitive and irritated scalps. We harvest our peony in the provinces of Shaanxi and Gansu, in China. The roots of each plant are collected by hand and then peeled, blanched and left to dry in the sun before we obtain our extract.

Stay tuned for my review of Klorane Shampoo with Peony! I will try it after I am done with Shiseido Professional Fuente Forte Scalp Care Shampoo

REVIEW: Shiseido Professional Fuente Forte Scalp Care Shampoo

250 ml of shampoo
~AG~

This has been my everyday shampoo for over two months now, about halfway through with it.

According to Shiseido Professional website, Fuente Forte Scalp Care Shampoo eliminates sebum and impurities that cause scalp problems, keeping the hair and the scalp clean without stripping away the precious moisture. Shiseido’s original Barrier Care Technology alleviates scalp problems and promotes a healthy scalp environment for growing beautiful hair

So what are my thought of Shiseido Professional Fuente Forte Scalp Care Shampoo?
The Shiseido Fuente Forte line is recommended for:
- Scalp problems such as roughness, dandruff and itchiness
- Those who are concerned about oiliness and odor of the scalp
- Those who are concerned about the scalp’s lack of resilience and moisture due to aging

This shampoo does not foam up as much, even though I use a 50-cent sized amount for my shoulder-length hair. It does contain sodium laureth sulfate, so I am not sure why it does not foam up?
Even though it is a scalp shampoo, my hair does not feel dry after using it. It is suitable for everyday use. The shampoo smells good. Shiseido mentions that it has a deep healing fragrance, which a combination of green herbal scent of clean forest air and a fresh floral note. I definitely agree with that! Regarding whether it helps control my oily scalp, I do not notice any difference. I still have to wash my hair on the second day, if not it will be unbearably oily and itchy. Honestly, I do find that my scalp smells bad at the end of the day. My boyfriend can attest to it. Hehe ;p With the daily use of Shiseido Fuente Forte Scalp Care shampoo, there was no change with the scalp odor.

I would not re-purchase this shampoo as it is not significantly effective for scalp issues. Though it has a nice scent and does not dry out my hair, the shampoo did not live up to its product's claims. Plus it was pricey at S$28.
Sorry Shiseido, a No to recommending this scalp shampoo. I really wanted to like this shampoo :(

NEW BUY: Shiseido Professional Fuente Forte Scalp Care Shampoo

 Shiseido Professional Fuente Forte Shampoo

~AG~

This Shiseido Professional Fuente Forte Scalp Care Shampoo eliminates sebum and impurities that cause scalp issues. It claims to leave hair and scalp clean without stripping its moisture. This shampoo was featured on a Singapore magazine for being the top pick for scalp issues such as oily and itchy scalp. I was on the lookout for a new shampoo and happened to see this at the beauty store, Red Tomato at Ang Mo Kio. Actually, Shiseido was not my shampoo of choice. The brand that I initially wanted, Matrix Biolage, seemed to be unavailable in Singapore. Thus, this Shiseido shampoo was the second best option. It was more affordable option than pricier haircare brand such as Kerastase and Redken.

Shiseido Fuente Forte Scalp Care Shampoo retailed at S$28 for 250ml of shampoo. It also comes in 500 ml version, but I decided to try a small version to reduce the risk of buyer's regret. At almost thirty dollars, it is pricey shampoo indeed.

My hope for this scalp care shampoo is for it to help reduce the flakiness on my scalp. I usually do not spend more than $10 on a shampoo, but I feel that it is time for me to invest more on hair care. May my investment in this "Professional" shampoo help improve the condition of my scalp. *cross my fingers* Please stay tuned for my review of this product.

REVIEW: Daeng Gi Meo Ri Vitalizing Shampoo

Comes with a convenient pump packaging
~AG~

My bottle of Daeng Gi Meo Ri Vitalizing Shampoo is almost done. I have been using this anti-hair fall shampoo since the end of January. It has been more than 6 months of continued use. Time for me to do a review of this shampoo. It contains fermented herbal extract, which has been weakened by fermentation, to makes the scalp healthier. The reason why I purchased this shampoo is because my hair fall was more than usual. Whenever I washed my hair, I could see clumps of hair on the shower drain. Not only that, when I blow-dry my hair, I can see that many hair strands has dropped onto the floor. Definitely not a good thing for a 20-something lady to see.

As mentioned in the previous post, it is not a cheap shampoo. The retail price in Watsons was S$35. But for that price, this shampoo has lasted me quite well. I do wash my hair everyday because my scalp gets oily if I skip a day of shampooing.
So what can I say about Daeng Gi Meo Ri Vitalizing Shampoo?

Q: Is this shampoo drying?
A: At first, I was also cautious that this shampoo but might be too drying for my frizzy and unruly hair. But after extended use, I did not find that it was more drying than usual shampoo. It does foam up because it has sodium laureth sulfate as an ingredient.

Q: Since it is made of 33% medicinal plants extract, does it smell bad?
A: Honestly, this shampoo does not smell awful at all.  There is a tinge of herbal scent but it is not too overwhelming. My family members did not comment at all about the scent of the shampoo. Overall, is it pleasantly scent for a herbal shampoo.

Q: Did you see any change with your hair fall pattern?
A: After using it for about a week, I noticed that my hair sheds less in the shower and when blow-drying. My hair used to shed easily when I brush my fingers through my hair, but it is noticeably less now.

Q: Was the effects in hair fall pattern long-lasting?
A: When I travel and do not use Daeng Gi Meo Ri Vitalizing Shampoo, I do notice that my hair falls more than usual. So, I can infer that the effect of the shampoo is not a permanent one.

Q: Would you recommend it to those plagued with hair fall or hair loss issues?
A: I will definitely recommend it to those that see their hair falling more than usual. It should help their hair stay stronger.

NEW BUY: DAENG GI MEO RI Vitalizing Shampoo

~AG~

On the November issue of Simpy Her, they have a section which showcased the best shampoos, conditioner, hair masks and hair products. While looking through the products, I saw Daeng Gi Meo Ri Vitalizing Shampoo that was a more affordable alternative for anti-hair loss shampoo. The reviewer quoted said that she saw less hair fall within two months of use, and that the shampoo did not smell bad. I was right away interested in this product. Ever since I came back from the States, I have noticed that whenever I washed my hair, a bunch of hair will fall off. It was significantly more than when I was in the States. I also notice lots of hair on the floor after blow drying my hair.

A bunch of hair strands that fell while blow drying my hair lightly.

At first, I was not too concerned about it but my hairstylist also pointed it out during my last appointment. He said that I have very little hair on the front, around my forehead area. He also mentioned that my scalp is oily, and that I needed scalp treatment to help with the hair loss. While talking about hair loss shampoo, he mentioned that most anti-hair loss shampoo are drying and should only used for a month. I shall try Daeng Gi Meo Ri Vitalizing Shampoo and let you all know whether it is drying. I hope it does not dry out my hair too bad, because I have dry ends. *cross my fingers*

Anyway, I was looking for this shampoo at various Watsons shops but could not find it. Simply Her stated that is available at Watsons, BHG and Metro. But I do not have a BHG or Metro near my house or workplace. Finally, I went to Watsons website to purchase the shampoo. It retailed for S$35 which is expensive for a drugstore shampoo. It comes with 500 ml of shampoo which should lasts 3-4 months with daily use. On Watsons website it says:

For preventing Hair loss. Contains medicinal herbal extract (33% or more)>
Fermented medicinal herbal extract in which the toxicity of herbs has been weakened by fermentation makes the scalp Healthy. An active ingredient of changpo (Acorus calamus Rhizone) water, which has been used for Hair care since old times in Korea, makes Hair beautiful and Healthy
Directions: Use daily. For oily scalp, shampoo in the morning and at night to get better effects. Shampoo twice to product better results.
I cannot wait to try it, after I am done with my KeraStraight Straight Maintain shampoo - I have about 2 more weeks.

REVIEW: KeraStraight Straight Maintain Shampoo

~AG~

Straight Maintain Shampoo has been developed to ensure you enjoy maximum benefits and longevity from your KeraStraight Treatment. This gentle shampoo, which can be used daily, is free from the aggressive ingredients sulphate and sodium chloride and contains our exclusive KS Complex to reinforce the seal of the treatment within your hair, providing longer lasting smoothness.

Gilbert @ Kenaris Salon recommended this KeraStraight Straight Maintain Shampoo for my after-care. When I asked him whether I need to buy the conditioner, he said that I could just use my regular one. What is special about this shampoo is that it is sulphate and sodium chloride-free. These harsh ingredients strip the keratin of the treatment. Thus, to lengthen the effects of your keratin treatment, you will need to use the special shampoo. It costs S$49. It is pricy for a bottle of shampoo. But if it is effective and can maintain the result of the keratin treatment, it would be all worth it.

After using this shampoo four times. Here are a few things I have to say about it:
The first thing that I noticed about this shampoo is that it does not foam up at all. So, it needs a little getting used to. Even when you rinse it off, there is not much foam. It is very difficult to apply the shampoo evenly. I find that I have to use more than the normal amount of shampoo to wash my hair. My normal shampoo amount is 50 cents-coin for my shoulder length hair. But now I find that I have to use triple that amount. For such an expensive shampoo, I had expected to use less shampoo to achieve a good cleaning result. The packaging is not travel-friendly. The cap popped open twice during my travel, resulting in 20% loss of the shampoo quantity. Such a pain! The scent of the shampoo is unpleasant. It smells somewhat like coconut, but is more musky. I don't like it at all!

Previously, I had also use another shampoo specially designed for keratin-treated hair. Acai Anti-Frizz Shampoo but did not have issues with it lathering evenly. Plus, it smells wonderful.

After the three months or so after my keratin treatment wears off, I will not use Kerastraigh Straight Maintain Shampoo anymore. I will go back to my Essential Shampoo.
For those of you who have had keratin treatment done, I recommend the Acai Anti-Frizz Shampoo instead.
